The Society for Social Medicine’s 57th Annual Scientific Meeting will be held at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, University of Sussex from 11-13 September 2013. The Meeting will include topics from the fields of health services research, epidemiology, public health, statistics, sociology, psychology, health policy and/or mixed methods research. The 2013 Meeting will provide the opportunity to report new research findings, debate academic and policy issues, and will offer early stage and experienced researchers the chance to present in a friendly, relaxed environment.

The conference will include a mix of lectures by key note speakers, parallel sessions, poster presentations and workshops which will be of interest to both UK and international delegates. All accepted abstracts for oral/poster presentations will be published in a supplement to the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

The Meeting will be held at the University of Sussex campus, which is situated in beautiful parkland setting surrounded by the South Downs National Park, and is easily accessible by public transport.

You are most welcome to attend the full three-day conference programme, or as a day delegate. There are a number of free places available for students. Delegates opting for our residential package will be housed in Swanborough Halls, which is close to Bramber House (dining) and Jubilee Building (lectures/posters).

Delegates will enjoy exploring the fun and energetic seaside town of Brighton, along with surrounding areas such as the Sussex Downs. There will be opportunities to socialise at a Reception at the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, and to enjoy Dinner on Campus. A selection of other activities and social events have been planned throughout the duration of the Meeting.
